    👋 NEW TO THE VEGAN GYM? 👋
    We're on a mission to help 1,000,000 vegans get into the best shape of their lives because we believe that the more healthy, fit vegans there are in the world, the faster veganism will spread. Let’s work together to inspire change, spread compassion, and challenge the status quo.
    👁 About this video: In this video, you'll learn exactly what I eat to build lean vegan muscle and strength! Whenever I am building a meal plan for myself or a client, I start by choosing the main protein sources. My favorites are tofu, lentils, seitan, and protein powder. Then I "fill in the gaps" of my meal plan by adding carbs and dietary fat to hit my macro targets. Here are my current bulking macro targets: 178 g protein, 571 g carbs, and 111 g dietary fat. I also boost my micronutrient intake (vitamins and minerals) as high as possible with plenty of veggies, fruits, and possibly some nuts and seeds depending on my macro targets. I also take a few supplements (like vitamin B12) to ensure I don't run into any deficiencies.

    Thoughts about heating more of your vegetables (e.g. carrots and/or tomatoes) in some manner or another for bioavailability of micronutrients? My understanding is that some of the vegetables in your meal plan can be give or take for specific micronutrients. FWIW, I am training for competitive powerlifting as a Master's age classed athlete and transitioning to whole food, plant-based dietary veganism (with vegan protein and micronutrient supplements).

      Thanks for your comment Danny! And congrats on transitioning to a plant-based diet! The bioavailability debate is not as simple as raw versus cooked. It varies based on the specific fruit or vegetable, cooking times, cooking methods, raw consumption method (blended, chopped, chewed whole, etc.), and even what other foods you consume at the same time. My general recommendation is to simply consume a variety of different fruits and vegetables; whichever recipe or preparation method helps you eat the most whole plant foods, that's what you should stick with! Here's a bit more specific information from Dr. Greger: nutritionfacts.org/2017/11/14/how-to-maximize-nutrient-absorption/

    Do you need over 100 g of protein ?

    • @TheVeganGym
      @TheVeganGym  2 года назад

      The exact amount of protein you need is specific to your body and what your goals are. Protein is important for fat loss so you don't lose your lean muscle AND protein is important for building muscle. You can find out just how much protein YOU need by using our vegan nutrition calculator on our website at thevegangym.com!

    No disrespect but your muscle gain on your current diet is very very poor in comparison to meat eaters who body build. I see no bulk or notable definition. I’m sure internally you are very healthy but outwardly you’re gains aren’t visible. I’ve actually never seen a vegan bodybuilder who is muscular and bulky especially without using processed protein powders

      I like how I look and I don't really want to be bigger because I do a lot of endurance training too :) Most bodybuilders use steroids and I prefer to stay drug-free
